The Liffey River can flood Bracknell and surrounds. The map shows the expected Moderate and Major Flood levels in around the Bracknell and Liffey areas. You are likely to experience a major flood in your lifetime.

In a major flooding event, roads in and around Bracknell and Liffey are likely to be cut and some areas inundated. If you need to evacuate, you should leave early, before flood waters rise. Listen to ABC local radio for warnings and advice.

In such flooding events, the upper Liffey River area may be isolated due to flooding around Bracknell Road and Liffey Road. Access and egress to the east of Bracknell may be closed on Bracknell Lane. Flooding, landslips or fallen trees may also cut minor roads. It is dangerous to drive through flooded roads, particularly in isolated areas.

Even if your home is not inundated, you may be isolated for several days before flood waters recede. You should have supplies for up to three days and be prepared for power and telecommunications outages. Note if you are isolated, you may not be able to access medical or other help if needed.

• 2016 there was a moderate flooding event in January and a major flood event in June, which caused extensive infrastructure damage across northern and northeast Tasmania.
• October 2022 there was significant major flooding of the Liffey River catchment, with extensive damage to road and bridge infrastructure in the upper Liffey area. There were several assisted rescues in the upper Liffey River region.

BoM発行 悪天候注意報 for very heavy rain that may lead to flash floodingwhenever thisweather is occurring or is expected in an area. The amount of time between the warning andthe arrival of the heavy rain can vary from an hour to 24 hours or sometimes more.

BoM does not issue 洪水警報 with specific flood heightsfor the Liffey River. There are some gauging sites on the river: Liffey River above West Channel (downstream of Bracknell) and Liffey River at Carrick. Both sites do not have Minor, Moderate and Major flood levels defined.

Flood levels at Bracknell and upper Liffey River

While no two floods are the same, the following table shows what you can expect at different flood levels around Meander. Even if your property is not flooded, you need to think about access routes.

• Livestock and agricultural equipment should be moved from next to the river channel.

• Some homes can become isolated in the upper Liffey River area.

• Widespread flooding into the floodplains, may impact homes and buildings with above floor flooding.

The maps show potential flooding risks from consistent levels of rainfall across catchments, such as a 1% Annual Exceedance Probability (AEP). In flooding events, rainfall is likely to be more inconsistent across a catchment, so these flood maps should be considered indicative only. The mapped areas of flood risk show higher probability of inundation. Other areas have lower probability of flooding, but in severe and rare events (rarer than 1%AEP), other lower areas may be also at risk of inundation.
