Residents and businesses in Moonah, Glenorchy, Claremont and surrounds ๐Ÿ“ข

Three flood guides covering the Glenorchy Local Government Area are now available for community input.

๐ŸŸ  Glenorchy City and suburb โ€“ revised and updated

๐ŸŸ  Moonah/ Derwent Park โ€“ revised and updated

๐ŸŸ  Claremont and surrounds โ€“ new!

Low-lying areas of Glenorchy and surrounding suburbs can flood after intense rain, sometimes with little or no specific warning.  It is important residents and business owners know their flood risk, and plan for floods.

These guides provide you with advice on:

๐ŸŸ  Local flood risks from the Tasmanian strategic flood maps and Glenorchy Councilโ€™s local detailed flood studies.

๐ŸŸ  How to get ready for emergencies, and be ready for storms and floods.

Flooding can cause widespread and significant damage. Itโ€™s important for all Tasmanians to be aware of any flood risk that might exist where they live, visit, own property, or work. Areas around Grove Road and some other low-lying areas near waterways are prone to flooding. Even if floods donโ€™t affect your property, storms and flood events can mean roads may be cut, and there may be power and internet outages.

Know your risk, get ready, reduce risk where you can, connect with others, stay alert and act safe.
