TasEMT is a resource to enable people with emergency management responsibilities to increase their capability and capacity to be proficient during the All-Hazards phases of prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery (PPRR).
In November 2020 TWO new modules were completed and added to the current TasEMT modules:
The Introduction to Lesson’s Management module acknowledges that Tasmania has experienced emergency events including (but not limited to) storms, floods, droughts, bush fires and pandemic influenza which reminds us of the constant need to review and learn from these events. The module steps through the importance of the need to share information, manage knowledge and learn from others following an incident, exercise, or review. Continuous improvement and development across the Emergency Management sector contributes to our collective ability to learn from experience, manage knowledge gained and develop learning organisations that can adapt to deal with current, emerging, and unexpected threats.
Tasmanian Communities and their assets are at increased risk of being exposed to the impact of these disasters. The need to share information, manage knowledge and learn from others within the emergency management sector is paramount following an incident, exercise, or review. Continuous improvement and development across the EM sector contribute to our collective ability to learn from experience, manage knowledge gained and develop learning organisations that can adapt to deal with current, emerging, and unexpected threats.
The Family and Sexual Violence and Emergency Events training module is the ninth module to be launched on TasEMT. The module content was developed by the Department of Communities subject matter experts and is targeted towards anyone in the emergency management sector and anyone involved in developing emergency management/recovery policies.
This resource is a great opportunity to spread awareness on the correlation between family and sexual violence and emergency events. Having this understanding can assist individuals working in these areas to:
- appropriately respond to disclosures of family and sexual violence with the information provided in the module; and
- understand the additional barriers victim-survivors of family and sexual violence are faced with when developing recovery policies.
