Draft Tasmania Fire and Emergency Service Bill and Regulations 2026 – consultation closed

Public consultation on the draft Tasmania Fire and Emergency Service (TFES) Bill and Regulations 2026 has now closed.

The draft TFES Bill was open for public consultation from 7 August – 30 October 2026, and supported by the release of a working draft of the TFES Regulations from 2 October – 30 October 2026.

All submissions will be published on this website in line with the Tasmanian Government’s Public Submissions Policy and considered in the finalisation of the draft Bill and further development of the current draft of the Regulations.

Feedback previously received in relation to ‘Kertas Perundingan – Peraturan TFES dan Proses Penyangga’ (PDF, 536 KB) has been carefully considered as part of developing the new TFES Regulations although may not be fully reflected in the working draft.

Upon implementation, the TFES Bill and Regulations 2026 will replace the existing Akta Perkhidmatan Bomba 1979 and regulations with contemporary, principles-based legislation. The Akta Pengurusan Bencana 2006 will also be amended with the functions of the SES removed and incorporated into the new Bill.
