There may be little warning and flood waters are likely to have high velocity.&nbsp; Some areas may become isolated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The map shows flooding that has a 2%, 1% and 0.5% chance of happening any year (2%, 1% and 0.5% annual exceedance probability (AEP)). You are likely to experience a flood of this size at least once in your lifetime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Flooding in the area is due to high rainfall on kunanyi\/ Mount Wellington or local heavy rainfall. The area is subject to flash flooding. This means there may be unexpected flooding without warning if heavy rain falls. Some properties may also flood without warning due to storm water run-off when there is very heavy rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Flooding around the Lachlan River is likely to only last a few hours.&nbsp; Due to the short catchment, once rain stops, waterway flows will drop.&nbsp; However, there may be debris or trees over roads, damage to bridges and other infrastructure as flood waters move quickly through the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tynwald park and the Lyell Highway near the park may also be affected by flooding from the Derwent River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u60a8\u6709\u6d2a\u6c34\u98a8\u96aa\u55ce\uff1f<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The area has most recently had major flooding in May 2018. Such levels of flooding are likely to happen again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u6211\u61c9\u8a72\u505a\u4ec0\u9ebc\uff1f<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Check the map opposite to see whether your home or business is likely to be at risk of flooding during a flood.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepare a Home Emergency Plan, including whether you need to evacuate in advance of a flood, where you will go and what you need to take. See <a href=\"https:\/\/d2tv960yzi0spr.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Get-Ready-Emergency_Digital_7-Oct-2024-ART.pdf\">\u70ba\u7dca\u6025\u60c5\u6cc1\u505a\u597d\u6e96\u5099<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 \u70ba\u500b\u4eba\u548c\u5bb6\u5ead\u6e96\u5099\u61c9\u6025\u63aa\u65bd\u7684\u6307\u5357\u3002.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you have a business in the area, you should have a plan that covers flooding.&nbsp; Business Tasmania can help\u2013 see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.business.tas.gov.au\/manage_a_business\/emergency_management_and_disaster_recovery\">www.business.tas.gov.au\/manage_a_business\/<\/a>&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you need to evacuate or return home during a flood, make sure your route is safe.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Asses your home or business and know what you need to do to prepare it to minimise possible damage from water inundation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Floods like the one shown on the map, or worse, will occur again. Even if there were a gauge, the short length of the catchment means that this would not give enough warning time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whenever <strong>\u5927\u96e8<\/strong><strong> <\/strong>is expected in an area that may lead to flooding, the Bureau issues<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Severe Weather Warning, and\/or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thunderstorm Warning for heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The time between the warning and<strong> <\/strong>heavy rain falling can vary from an hour to 24 hours or more. It is best to act on the warnings from the Bureau of Meteorology rather than wait for local flooding alerts around Lachlan and New Norfolk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tracking Rainfall<strong> <\/strong>on Kunanyi\/ Mount Wellington can help predict flooding around the Lachlan River. Even if your property is not flooded, you need to think about access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rainfall amounts that might cause such an event are examples. Other levels of rainfall can cause flooding depending on<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>where the rain falls<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how heavy the rain is<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how long the rain lasts, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how wet the ground is beforehand.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Melting snow can also contribute to flooding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u5c0f\u7bc4\u570d\u6df9\u6c34<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Water spills over riverbanks and covers nearby low-lying areas.&nbsp; Agricultural and horticultural land on river flats may be at risk.&nbsp; Livestock should be moved from these areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There may be some flooding of low level roadways along Lachlan Road and minor roadways.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some low lying properties may have flooding around buildings below floor level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There may be some areas of Tynwald Park and nearby river flats inundated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u4e2d\u5ea6\u6d2a\u6c34<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>There is more extended and deeper flooding of agricultural and horticultural land along the river flats with some stock losses if not moved and damage to fences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flooding may reach above floor heights of some low lying houses and other buildings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some properties above low-lying bridges may become isolated.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There is more extended flooding at Tynwald Park and surrounding low lying areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u56b4\u91cd\u6d2a\u6c34<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Many river crossings will be impassable due to flooding or should be considered hazardous. This can isolate areas upstream. Although flooding is likely only for a few hours, the high velocity of flood waters can damage bridges and wash out roadways.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Low lying properties along the Lachlan River and its tributaries are at risk of being flooded above floor level. There may not be enough time for sandbagging. It may be necessary to evacuate some dwellings. Areas at risk of flooding include:<ul><li>Lower Road properties on riverside<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Moores Rd and nearby Lachlan Rd<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Tynwald Park, nearby Lyell Hwy and low-lying properties<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Lachlan Rd opposite Ironstone Gully Rd, Brookside<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Hyndhurst Rd and nearby Lachlan Rd and nearby properties<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Upper Lachlan Rd, multiple areas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There is likely to be significant crop and stock loss unless the stock are moved to higher ground.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Go to tasalerts.com or listen to ABC local radio for detailed up to date information and advice during heavy rainfall events.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>\u4e86\u89e3\u4f60\u7684\u98a8\u96aa\uff0c\u505a\u597d\u6e96\u5099\uff0c\u76e1\u53ef\u80fd\u964d\u4f4e\u98a8\u96aa\uff0c\u8207\u4ed6\u4eba\u806f\u7e6b\uff0c\u4fdd\u6301\u8b66\u60d5\u4e26\u5b89\u5168\u884c\u52d5\u3002.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u6d2a\u6c34\u4e4b\u524d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. \u8a8d\u8b58\u4f60\u7684\u98a8\u96aa<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u5854\u65af\u99ac\u5c3c\u4e9e\u7d93\u5e38\u767c\u751f\u6d2a\u6c34\uff0c\u53ef\u80fd\u9020\u6210\u5ee3\u6cdb\u4e14\u56b4\u91cd\u7684\u640d\u5bb3\u3002\u5728\u904e\u53bb 200 \u5e74\u88e1\uff0c\u5854\u65af\u99ac\u5c3c\u4e9e\u6709 78 \u4eba\u6b7b\u65bc\u8207\u6d2a\u6c34\u76f8\u95dc\u7684\u4e8b\u4ef6\u3002\u672c\u6307\u5357\u65e8\u5728\u5e6b\u52a9\u60a8\u4e86\u89e3\u60a8\u6240\u5728\u5730\u5340\u7684\u6d2a\u6c34\u98a8\u96aa\u3002.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. \u6e96\u5099\u60a8\u7684\u5bb6\u6236<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading Probability (AEP).&nbsp; In flooding events, rainfall is likely to be more inconsistent across a catchment, so these flood maps should be considered indicative only.&nbsp; The mapped areas of flood risk show higher probability of inundation.
