The map shows where a flood may reach. The darker blue areas are the most likely to flood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a major flood, roads in and around Geeveston will be cut before some areas are flooded. Schools in the area may become isolated due to flood waters. If you need to evacuate, you should leave early, before flood waters rise. Listen to ABC local radio for warnings and advice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Flooding near Franklin and along the Huon River can also isolate areas around Geeveston. Backroads may be cut by floodwater, landslips or fallen trees, making it dangerous to drive in isolated areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Flood waters may isolate your home for several days. Even if your home is not flooded, you may not be able to access help if needed. You should have supplies for at least three days and prepare for power and telecommunications outages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u60a8\u6709\u6d2a\u6c34\u98a8\u96aa\u55ce\uff1f<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Past flooding events around Geeveston include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In December 1995 houses were flooded in Arve Road. The Huon Highway was cut at the junction of Scott\u2019s Road, isolating Geeveston and communities further south. There was further flooding in early 1996.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In 1947, high rainfall isolated Geeveston for four days from 16-19 June.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Extensive willow and debris removal since the late 1990s has reduced flood risks around Geeveston. However, parts of the township are at risk of being inundated, and extensive areas can become isolated due to flood waters cutting access routes around Geeveston plus surrounding areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u6211\u61c9\u8a72\u505a\u4ec0\u9ebc\uff1f<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u6aa2\u67e5\u5730\u5716\uff0c\u770b\u770b\u60a8\u7684\u4f4f\u5b85\u6216\u4f01\u696d\u662f\u5426\u53ef\u80fd\u906d\u53d7\u6d2a\u6c34\u4fb5\u8972\u3002.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u6aa2\u67e5\u60a8\u662f\u5426\u80fd\u5728\u6d2a\u6c34\u671f\u9593\u5b89\u5168\u5730\u62b5\u9054\u5bb6\u4e2d\u3001\u5de5\u4f5c\u5730\u9ede\u6216\u5b78\u6821\u3002.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepare a Home Emergency Plan. See <a href=\"https:\/\/d2tv960yzi0spr.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Get-Ready-Emergency_Digital_7-Oct-2024-ART.pdf\">\u70ba\u7dca\u6025\u60c5\u6cc1\u505a\u597d\u6e96\u5099<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 \u70ba\u500b\u4eba\u548c\u5bb6\u5ead\u6e96\u5099\u61c9\u6025\u63aa\u65bd\u7684\u6307\u5357\u3002.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you will be isolated you may need to evacuate early.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u8a55\u4f30\u60a8\u7684\u4f4f\u5bb6\u6216\u516c\u53f8\uff0c\u4e26\u505a\u597d\u6e96\u5099\u4ee5\u76e1\u91cf\u6e1b\u5c11\u6f5b\u5728\u7684\u6d2a\u6c34\u640d\u5bb3\u3002.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Floods like the one shown in the map or worse will occur again. No two floods are the same.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>If you live in a low-lying area, your house may flood. Even if your home is safe, you may need to detour around flooded areas or your road access may be cut. Never drive into or enter flood waters. Roads and bridges may be washed out or unsafe.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>\u77e5\u9053\u8a72\u600e\u9ebc\u505a\u53ef\u4ee5\u62ef\u6551\u4f60\u7684\u751f\u547d\u4e26\u4fdd\u8b77\u4f60\u7684\u8ca1\u7522\u3002\u5236\u5b9a\u5bb6\u5ead\u7dca\u6025\u8a08\u756b\u662f\u6700\u597d\u7684\u6e96\u5099\u65b9\u6cd5\u4e4b\u4e00\u3002\u6c7a\u5b9a\u5929\u6c23\u548c\u964d\u96e8\u7684\u89f8\u767c\u689d\u4ef6\uff0c\u4ee5\u4fbf\u63a1\u53d6\u884c\u52d5\u3002.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) Forecasts, Warnings, and Observations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>BoM issues a Severe Weather Warning and\/or Thunderstorm Warning for heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding whenever heavy rain is expected in an area. The time between the warning and heavy rain occurring can vary from an hour to 24 hours or sometimes more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BoM may issue a Flood Watch when predicted weather might cause floods over the next couple of days. The Flood Watch may include generalized areas when there is a risk of significant rainfall. &#8220;Channel Coastal Rivers&#8221; is the name of the flood watch area that includes Kermandie\/Rileys\/Scotts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BoM do not have a riverine flood warning service for the Kermandie River, Rileys Creek and Scotts Rivulet, . Flood monitoring is also not available, as there not sufficient rainfall and river level gauges within the catchment.<br>Rainfall Monitoring and Observations<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mt Koonya Radar is useful for real-time situation awareness of where heavy rainfall is falling. Radar Rainfall estimates are also available to fill in gaps in areas where there are no rainfall stations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are no real-time rainfall stations in the Kermandie River catchment. Nearby rainfall stations at Hartz Mountain. Cannells Hills, Dover and Warra may provide useful observations, although rainfall can vary significantly across the area. The Geeveston area is prone to flash flooding from torrential downpours so there may be little warning. Historically intense South-Easterly weather systems have produced the most significant flood events for Geeveston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Flood levels at Geeveston<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While no two flood events are the same, the following table shows what you can expect for different flood levels around Geeveston. Even if your property is not flooded, you need to think about access routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-2 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-1 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:19px\">A minor flood<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Flood water may cover low-lying areas.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heritage Park and Memorial Park, including the campgrounds in those areas can be flooded. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flood water may reach some building floor levels and will impact low-lying paths, parks and backyards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Low-level bridges and backroads may be flooded, for example, Donnelleys Road, Kermandie River Road, Hankin and Roberts Road, isolated some properties.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Livestock in potential flood areas should be moved to higher ground.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:19px\">A moderate flood (10%AEP)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>May be for example because of 96mm in 24 hours or more.  may need to be moved.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flood water may cover larger areas of land and enter some homes and other buildings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Rileys Creek Bridge, and the Huon Highway Bridge near School Road may be inundated.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flood water may enter houses:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Northside of Arve Road to near Cemetery Rd, plus the bottom end of Fourfoot Road<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>East side of Huon Highway between School Road and Kermandie River Road; west-side between School Road and Duke Street<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Memorial Drive and surrounds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Areas may be isolated such as.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>O\u2019Hallorans Road<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fourfoot Road and surrounds<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Upper Kermandie Road<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rileys Creek Road<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Potentially Ford Street and Duke Street<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Livestock in these areas should be moved to higher ground.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:19px\">A major flood (1%AEP)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>May be for example because of 157mm in 24 hours or more.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Widespread flooding will isolate Geeveston, and there will be significant flooding of homes and other buildings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The bridge on the Huon Highway near Scotts Road will be flooded.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More buildings are flooded including\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>some low-lying buildings in Geeveston centre<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Along Kermandie River Road to near Knights Road junction<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Utility services may be affected. There may be power outages and sewers backed up.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Significant areas in and around Geeveston should evacuate or prepare for isolation.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Geeveston town centre from the North (can travel southwards towards Dover along Kent Street)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>School Road and surrounds from Geeveston town centre and Arve Road<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"724\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>\u4e86\u89e3\u4f60\u7684\u98a8\u96aa\uff0c\u505a\u597d\u6e96\u5099\uff0c\u76e1\u53ef\u80fd\u964d\u4f4e\u98a8\u96aa\uff0c\u8207\u4ed6\u4eba\u806f\u7e6b\uff0c\u4fdd\u6301\u8b66\u60d5\u4e26\u5b89\u5168\u884c\u52d5\u3002.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u6d2a\u6c34\u4e4b\u524d<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/d2tv960yzi0spr.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Get-Ready-Emergency_Digital_7-Oct-2024-ART.pdf\">\u70ba\u7dca\u6025\u60c5\u6cc1\u505a\u597d\u6e96\u5099<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 \u70ba\u500b\u4eba\u548c\u5bb6\u5ead\u6e96\u5099\u61c9\u6025\u63aa\u65bd\u7684\u6307\u5357\u3002.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. \u8a8d\u8b58\u4f60\u7684\u98a8\u96aa<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u5854\u65af\u99ac\u5c3c\u4e9e\u7d93\u5e38\u767c\u751f\u6d2a\u6c34\uff0c\u53ef\u80fd\u9020\u6210\u5ee3\u6cdb\u4e14\u56b4\u91cd\u7684\u640d\u5bb3\u3002\u5728\u904e\u53bb 200 \u5e74\u88e1\uff0c\u5854\u65af\u99ac\u5c3c\u4e9e\u6709 78 \u4eba\u6b7b\u65bc\u8207\u6d2a\u6c34\u76f8\u95dc\u7684\u4e8b\u4ef6\u3002\u672c\u6307\u5357\u65e8\u5728\u5e6b\u52a9\u60a8\u4e86\u89e3\u60a8\u6240\u5728\u5730\u5340\u7684\u6d2a\u6c34\u98a8\u96aa\u3002.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. \u6e96\u5099\u60a8\u7684\u5bb6\u6236<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-normal-font-size\"><strong>\u5236\u5b9a\u5305\u542b\u98a8\u66b4\u548c\u6d2a\u6c34\u61c9\u8b8a\u8a08\u756b<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u601d\u8003\u4e00\u4e0b\u5728\u98a8\u66b4\u6216\u6d2a\u6c34\u4f86\u8972\u6642\u4f60\u6703\u600e\u9ebc\u505a\uff0c\u610f\u5473\u8457\u4f60\u6e96\u5099\u5f97\u66f4\u5145\u5206\uff0c\u6bcf\u500b\u4eba\u90fd\u6703\u66f4\u5b89\u5168\u3002\u5236\u5b9a\u4e00\u500b\u5bb6\u5ead\u4e2d\u7684\u6bcf\u500b\u4eba\u90fd\u7406\u89e3\u7684\u7dca\u6025\u8a08\u756b\u3002\u6709\u6aa2\u67e5\u8868\u53ef\u4ee5\u5e6b\u52a9\u4f60\u601d\u8003\u4f60\u7684\u8a08\u756b\u2014\u2014\u8acb\u53c3\u95b1 <a href=\"https:\/\/d2tv960yzi0spr.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Get-Ready-Emergency_Digital_7-Oct-2024-ART.pdf\">\u70ba\u7dca\u6025\u60c5\u6cc1\u505a\u597d\u6e96\u5099<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 \u70ba\u500b\u4eba\u548c\u5bb6\u5ead\u6e96\u5099\u61c9\u6025\u63aa\u65bd\u7684\u6307\u5357\u3002.<br>\u5b9a\u671f\u6aa2\u67e5\u60a8\u7684\u8a08\u5283\uff0c\u4e26\u8b93\u5bb6\u4e2d\u7684\u6bcf\u500b\u4eba\u90fd\u8a2d\u60f3\u4e00\u6b21\u53ef\u80fd\u5f71\u97ff\u60a8\u5bb6\u7684\u6d2a\u6c34\u60c5\u6cc1\u4f86\u9032\u884c\u6e2c\u8a66\u3002.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-normal-font-size\"><strong>\u6e96\u5099\u4e00\u500b\u7dca\u6025\u6551\u751f\u5305<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-3 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:19px\">\u6e96\u5099\u597d\u4e86<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u96fb\u6c60\u4f9b\u96fb\u7684\u6536\u97f3\u6a5f\u548c\u624b\u96fb\u7b52\uff0c\u5099\u7528\u96fb\u6c60<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u91cd\u8981\u8cc7\u8a0a\uff0c\u4f8b\u5982\u60a8\u7684\u7dca\u6025\u61c9\u8b8a\u8a08\u756b<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u7dca\u6025\u96fb\u8a71\u865f\u78bc\u5217\u8868<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u98df\u7269\u548c\u6c34<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u6025\u6551\u7bb1<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u6a61\u81a0\u624b\u5957\u6216\u5805\u56fa\u7684\u76ae\u9769\u624b\u5957<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:19px\">\u9700\u8981\u6642\u6253\u5305<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u6696\u548c\u7684\u8863\u670d\u3001\u7d50\u5be6\u7684\u978b\u5b50\u6216\u9774\u5b50<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u85e5\u54c1\u3001\u773c\u93e1\u6216\u5176\u4ed6\u5fc5\u9700\u54c1<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u624b\u6a5f\u548c\u5145\u96fb\u5668<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u5bf5\u7269\u98df\u54c1\u548c\u4ed6\u5011\u9700\u8981\u7684\u4efb\u4f55\u5176\u4ed6\u6771\u897f<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u7167\u7247\u548c\u7279\u5225\u7d00\u5ff5\u54c1<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u9322<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u91cd\u8981\u6587\u4ef6\uff0c\u4f8b\u5982\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u4fdd\u96aa\u6587\u4ef6<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u8b77\u7167\u8207<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u51fa\u751f\u8b49\u660e<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u5b9a\u671f\u6e2c\u8a66\u6536\u97f3\u6a5f\u548c\u624b\u96fb\u7b52\u7684\u96fb\u6c60\u3002.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. <strong>Reduce your risk from flooding where you can<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u5728\u8cfc\u8cb7\u3001\u7dad\u8b77\u6216\u958b\u767c\u623f\u5730\u7522\u6642\uff0c\u8acb\u8003\u616e\u98a8\u66b4\u3001\u6d2a\u6c34\u548c\u5176\u4ed6\u707d\u5bb3\u3002.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u4fee\u526a\u6216\u79fb\u9664\u60a8\u5bb6\u4e2d\u3001\u5546\u5bb6\u6216\u60a8\u5bb6\u9644\u8fd1\u6709\u96fb\u529b\u7dda\u7684\u6a39\u6728\u548c\u6a39\u679d\u3002.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u4fdd\u6301\u60a8\u7684\u6392\u6c34\u6e9d\u548c\u6392\u6c34\u7ba1\u66a2\u901a\u3002.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2
