It can be difficult to give accurate and timely warnings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parts of communities near the mouth of the Pipers River can also flood, particularly at high tide.&nbsp; This includes parts of<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bellingham<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Weymouth, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lulworth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Some properties around Karoola could also flood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Flooding can cut many roads around the area for a short time after heavy rain.&nbsp; This can make driving dangerous.&nbsp; Areas around the Pipers River can become isolated for short periods as low-lying roads flood. Even if your home is not inundated, you should be prepared for<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>major traffic routes to be cut plus<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>potential power and telecommunications outages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u60a8\u6709\u6d2a\u6c34\u98a8\u96aa\u55ce\uff1f<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:upper-alpha\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Areas around Lilydale and the Pipers River flooded in 1915, 1923, 1937, 1939, 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2016. Parts of Lilydale also flooded in October 2022.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u6211\u61c9\u8a72\u505a\u4ec0\u9ebc\uff1f<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Check the map to see whether your home or business could flood. To see the maps in more detail, go to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ses.tas.gov.au\/zh_hk\/floodmaps\/\">the Tasmanian Strategic Flood Maps<\/a> online.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assess your home or business. Prepare it to minimise possible flood damage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u6aa2\u67e5\u60a8\u662f\u5426\u80fd\u5728\u6d2a\u6c34\u671f\u9593\u5b89\u5168\u5730\u62b5\u9054\u5bb6\u4e2d\u3001\u5de5\u4f5c\u5730\u9ede\u6216\u5b78\u6821\u3002.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepare a Home Emergency Plan. If you run a business, check out the support by Business Tasmania to prepare for emergencies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you may be isolated and you must have access to services, you may need to evacuate early, before floodwaters rise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u50cf\u5716\u4e2d\u6240\u793a\u7684\u6d2a\u6c34\uff0c\u6216\u66f4\u7cdf\u7684\u6d2a\u6c34\uff0c\u5c07\u6703\u518d\u6b21\u767c\u751f\u3002\u6c92\u6709\u5169\u6b21\u6d2a\u6c34\u662f\u5b8c\u5168\u4e00\u6a23\u7684\u3002.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u5982\u679c\u60a8\u5c45\u4f4f\u5728\u4f4e\u7aaa\u5730\u5340\u6216\u9760\u8fd1\u6c34\u9053\uff0c\u60a8\u7684\u623f\u5c4b\u53ef\u80fd\u6703\u88ab\u6df9\u6c92\u3002\u5373\u4f7f\u60a8\u7684\u4f4f\u6240\u5b89\u5168\uff0c\u60a8\u4e5f\u53ef\u80fd\u9700\u8981\u7e5e\u904e\u6df9\u6c34\u5730\u5340\uff0c\u6216\u8005\u60a8\u7684\u9053\u8def\u901a\u884c\u53ef\u80fd\u6703\u88ab\u963b\u65b7\u3002\u5207\u52ff\u99d5\u8eca\u9032\u5165\u6216\u8eab\u8655\u6d2a\u6c34\u4e4b\u4e2d\u3002\u9053\u8def\u548c\u6a4b\u6a11\u53ef\u80fd\u6703\u88ab\u6c96\u6bc0\u6216\u4e0d\u5b89\u5168\u3002\u6d2a\u6c34\u671f\u9593\u8acb\u907f\u514d\u51fa\u884c\u3002.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u77e5\u9053\u8a72\u600e\u9ebc\u505a\u53ef\u4ee5\u62ef\u6551\u4f60\u7684\u751f\u547d\u4e26\u4fdd\u8b77\u4f60\u7684\u8ca1\u7522\u3002\u5236\u5b9a\u5bb6\u5ead\u7dca\u6025\u8a08\u756b\u662f\u6700\u597d\u7684\u6e96\u5099\u65b9\u6cd5\u4e4b\u4e00\u3002\u6c7a\u5b9a\u5929\u6c23\u548c\u964d\u96e8\u7684\u89f8\u767c\u689d\u4ef6\uff0c\u4ee5\u4fbf\u63a1\u53d6\u884c\u52d5\u3002.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"724\" src=\"https:\/\/d2tv960yzi0spr.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Lilydale-Depth-Maps_Lilydale-Township-1024x724.jpg\" alt=\"Lilydale township flood map\" class=\"wp-image-10476\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d2tv960yzi0spr.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Lilydale-Depth-Maps_Lilydale-Township-1024x724.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/d2tv960yzi0spr.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Lilydale-Depth-Maps_Lilydale-Township-300x212.jpg 300w, https:\/\/d2tv960yzi0spr.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Lilydale-Depth-Maps_Lilydale-Township-768x543.jpg 768w, https:\/\/d2tv960yzi0spr.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Lilydale-Depth-Maps_Lilydale-Township-1536x1086.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/d2tv960yzi0spr.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Lilydale-Depth-Maps_Lilydale-Township-2048x1448.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bureau issues a&nbsp;<strong>Flood Watch&nbsp;<\/strong>when predicted weather might cause floods in the area. A Flood Watch for this area would be a generalised one for <strong>Central North river basins <\/strong>\u2013 a \u201cheads up\u201d early advice of forecast weather that may lead to flooding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BoM does not issue formal flood level warnings for the Pipers River catchment.&nbsp; There are river level gauges on the Pipers River at<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Underwood, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Downstream of Yarrow Creek.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As the Pipers River is a short catchment, these gauges cannot give enough warning time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is best to act on BoM\u2019s generalised flood watch warning, and observed rainfall, particularly at<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mount Arthur Summit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pipers River Upstream of Yarrow Creek.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u770b <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bom.gov.au\/tas\/flood\/northern.shtml\">www.bom.gov.au\/tas\/flood\/northern.shtml<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SES will issue TasALERT warnings if predicted or observed rainfall could cause flooding in the area.&nbsp; However, sometimes it is not possible to issue those warnings in a timely manner as the area is prone to localised flash flooding that can happen quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u4e86\u89e3\u8b66\u544a\u548c\u95dc\u9375\u8cc7\u8a0a<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u96a8\u6642\u7559\u610f\u5468\u906d\u72c0\u6cc1\u3002\u5b9a\u671f\u67e5\u770b\u5929\u6c23\u9810\u5831\u3001\u89c0\u6e2c\u6578\u64da\u548c\u8b66\u5831\u3002.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tasalert.com\/\">TasALERT.com<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2019-01-26\/frequency-map-1\/10753108?nw=0\">\u60a8\u7576\u5730\u7684 ABC \u96fb\u53f0<\/a> \u6216<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u9019 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bom.gov.au\/water\/floods\/floodWarningServices.shtml\">\u6c23\u8c61\u5c40<\/a> \u7db2\u7ad9.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\">\n<table summary=\"This table Different levels of rainfall can cause flooding depending on its intensity, duration and how wet the ground is beforehand and where the rain falls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Do not drive through flooded roads \u2013 it is dangerous. I<\/strong>t is best to avoid travel during heavy rain.&nbsp; Most flooding in the area will only last for a short period after rain stops. Flooding around Pipers River is generally only for a few hours or less.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Minor and moderate flooding<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Low lying parts of some roads around the area can flood for short periods of time after heavy rain.&nbsp; Depending where rain falls, main roads that could be flooded for a short time in low lying parts include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bridport Road near Pipers River crossing, near Ferny Hill Road and near #2431<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lilydale Road south of Garcias Road<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Underwood Road near Jones Road<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bangor Road east from Pipers River Rd turnoff and Second River Crossing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lalla Road Pipers River crossing east of Karoola Road<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Second River Rd east of Merthyr Park and near Second River crossing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Local roads most at risk include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Glenford Farm Road, Underwood, multiple places<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Baxters Road Pipers River Crossing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Security Road Pipers River crossing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lewis Road, Pipers River<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Colgraves Road, Pipers River<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Weymouth Farm Road Back Creek crossing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Other roads that may flood for a short period include<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Gargias Road, Underwood<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collins Road, Karoola<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Karoola Road, Pipers River crossing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dicksons Road, Karoola<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Back Creek Road, Back Creek crossing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Weymouth Rod Back Creek crossing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lees Road, Bangor, Third River crossing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If rain is very heavy, some low-lying properties around Lilydale, Bellingham and Weymouth may flood. Check the flood maps for details. Flooding could isolate many properties and communities for a short time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Major floodingThis area has more than a 2% chance of major flooding any year (annual exceedance probability (AEP)). A 2% AEP level event may be as a result of, for example:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>At Mount Arthur, about 57mm rain in 2 hours, or 94mm in 6 hours<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At Lilydale about 32mm rain in 1 hour, or 47mm in 3 hours<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At Pipers River township, 33mm rain in 1 hour or 53 mm in 3 hours<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>With this level of rainfall, or less<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Flooding will likely cut most roads around the area for short periods. Delay travel, if possible, for your safety.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In Lilydale up to 45 properties may flood, including along<ul><li>Main Road\/ Lilydale Road\/ Golconda Road,<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Station Road<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Charob Avenue.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>While in many cases this flooding will be shallow and below floor height, in some places water could be dangerously deep as well as fast moving. If your property floods and you have to leave quickly, move overland uphill to a safer place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This flooding is likely to be for a short time. Follow TasALERT for information on evacuation options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A flood that has a 1% chance of happening any year is also likely to impact low lying homes and other buildings in the following areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Karoola &#8211; 4 properties along Pipers River Road, Karoola Road and Lalla RoadBellingham &#8211; 10 properties mostly in Lyndon Street, but also Albert Street and Clifford StreetWeymouth &#8211; 5 properties in Major Street or along the Esplanade<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lulworth \u2013 low level overland may impact 2 properties<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stormwater run-off (direct rainfall impacts from very heavy rain) can also affect some other properties.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coastal inundation, coastal erosion, plus high tides can also affect Bellingham, Weymouth and Lulworth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If there is particularly heavy rain, there is likely to be an extra 12 properties flooded around Lilydale, Karoola, Bellingham and Wymouth (0.5% AEP). Flooding on roads listed is likely to be deeper and more
