Tasmanians are urged to prepare for the possibility of severe thunderstorm activity across the state tomorrow.

“Advice received from the Bureau of Meteorology today forecasts the possibility of thunderstorms about all parts of the state tomorrow with severe thunderstorm activity across the State (with the exception of NW and W Coasts) tomorrow afternoon. It is forecast that large to giant hail >5cm diameter, strong wind gusts >90km/hr and localised heavy rain is possible,” said Tasmania SES Assistant Director, Leon Smith.

“The forecast for tomorrow is hot conditions in the morning, followed by a cold front crossing the state in the afternoon, bringing the potential of severe thunderstorms, strong winds, heavy rain, and hail that has potential to be hazardous and damaging.”

“I urge everyone to be prepared before a significant change in the current fine weather conditions tomorrow– especially those camping, bushwalking and enjoying the outdoors.”

“Ensure all outdoor furniture and equipment is secured, and if heavy hail falls, limit time outdoors and on the road while conditions are poor.”

SES advises people to be prepared and safe tomorrow and:
• Check bom.gov.au for the latest weather forecast and warnings in your area.
• Check TasALERT.com for current warnings and alerts.
• 确保家人和邻居,特别是那些弱势群体,都已知晓并已制定好计划。.

In the event of heavy hail:
