Tasmania State Emergency Service and Tasmania Fire Service are collectively thanking all their volunteers this week – as part of National Volunteer Week.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This week is National Volunteer Week, and as Acting Director of Tasmania SES, I’m inviting all Tasmanians to support and thank our volunteers,” said Leon Smith.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the theme of ‘We are, Better Together<\/strong>‘ National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to celebrate and recognise the vital work of volunteers and to say thank you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis week, during National Volunteer Week, we want to give a big shout out to all of the Tasmania Fire Service and State Emergency Service volunteers,\u201d said Tasmania Fire Service Chief, Dermot Barry.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Collectively we have almost 5,500 volunteers, who provide a vast range of invaluable assistance to the community – including firefighting, road crash rescue, searching for missing people, and storm and flood emergency assistance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The dedicated men and women who volunteer play a really important role supporting and assisting our community, and on behalf of TFS and Tas SES, I say thank you to each vollie and their families, for their commitment and sacrifice.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within National Volunteer Week, Wear Orange Wednesday, will be recognised with several buildings illuminated across the state. Acting Director of Tasmania SES, Leon Smith said – \u201cOn Wednesday, I urge everyone to wear something Orange, as a show of thanks for the work done and commitment shown by SES volunteers.”\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
