The time between the warning andheavy rain occurring can vary from an hour to 24 hours or more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whenever rain that may lead to flooding along the Mersey River is expected, the Bureau will issue:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A Flood Watch \u2013 a &#8220;heads up&#8221; early advice of forecast weather that may lead to flooding<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A Flood Warning \u2013 giving a prediction of when flooding is likely to develop at gauge locations and possibly forecasting the likely peak river level.&nbsp; Warnings are updated regularly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SES and the Bureau will issue warnings when the Mersey River reaches the following levels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\">\n<table summary=\"It describes the author details\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>River gauges<\/strong><\/td>\n<td><strong>Risih<\/strong><\/td>\n<td><strong>Moderate<\/strong><\/td>\n<td><strong>Major<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Mersey River at Liena<\/td>\n<td>2.4m<\/td>\n<td>3.1m<\/td>\n<td>4.3m<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Mersey River at Kimberley<\/td>\n<td>2.4m<\/td>\n<td>3.3m<\/td>\n<td>4.0m<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n<p>There are no formal warning levels for other waterways in the area<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rainfall Observations <\/strong>at Maggs Mountain, Fisher River, Dunorlan, Kimberley, Sheffield and Devonport and other nearby rain gauges can indicate possible flood risks. Given the very short warning times, it is best to act on the predictive BoM warnings rather than wait for any flood alerts during rainfall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bom.gov.au\/products\/IDR523.loop.shtml\">West Takone<\/a> is useful to be aware in real-time where heavy rainfall is falling.&nbsp; Radar Rainfall estimates can also fill in gaps in areas where there are no rainfall stations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fahami amaran dan maklumat penting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sentiasa peka dengan apa yang berlaku di sekeliling anda. Even if your property is not flooded, you need to think about access. Different levels of rainfall can cause flooding depending on its intensity, duration and how wet the ground is beforehand and where the rain falls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mersey River major flooding<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If there is major flooding along the Mersey River, there may be flooding in low-lying areas close to the river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A major flood on the Mersey River means the river height is at least:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>4.3 metres at Liena and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4.0 metres at Kimberley.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>That level of flooding is approximately the level of the 2011 and 2016 floods and there is about a 5% chance of such a flood happening any year.&nbsp; Tasmanians need to be prepared for floods that have a 1% chance of happening every year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on where the rain falls and the level of soil saturation, this level of flooding is likely to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Close the several roads in the area, including Railton Road, Native Plains Road, Merseylea Road isolating surrounding properties<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flood some properties in low lying areas near the Mersey River, such as areas of Weegena, Kimberley and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Impact low lying areas around Weegena, Kimberley and Merseylea<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Minor or Moderate flooding along the Mersey River is unlikely to cause significant impacts in the lower areas near waterways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Flooding from other waterways<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If there is heavy local rainfall, there can be flash flooding<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>At Minnows River, Dasher River, Coilers Creek, Lobster Rivulet and other minor waterways<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In low lying areas Lower Beulah, Weegena and Kimberley<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>That may flood some properties in low lying areas in Weegena and Kimberley.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Banjir kilat<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A minor flood can inundate low lying paddocks, orchards and other farmland.&nbsp; Stock should be moved for their safety.&nbsp; There may also be some flooding across some minor roads and parkland areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Banjir sederhana<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is more extensive flooding of agricultural land and some buildings may be impacted to above floor height.
