Response Activities

Storm Damage

When severe storms occur SES volunteers are quickly on the scene making temporary repairs to ensure that buildings are secure until owners can arrange for permanent repairs.

Floods

When severe flooding occurs, it is the SES volunteers who help relocate stranded people, evacuate stock to safe areas and sandbag to protect property.

Road Crash Rescue

SES volunteers trained in road crash rescue use the jaws of life and other specialised tools to rescue trapped persons from vehicle accidents in rural areas.

Search and Rescue

Highly trained and welled equipped volunteers are often involved in assisting the Tasmania Police with search and rescue operations on land and inland waters.  Some are equipped with the skills for vertical rescue, bush and snow searches.
