2017 National Disaster Rescue Challenge (NDRC)

Eight State Emergency Service teams from around the country will put their skills to the test at the National Disaster Rescue Challenge (NDRC) being hosted by Tasmania at South Arm this weekend.

The NDRC provides a unique opportunity for SES volunteer units from around Australia to come together in a learning environment in a spirit of friendly competition.

The NDRC is comprised of a series of rescue-related skills scenarios which are designed to: foster excellence and innovation in emergency response; provide a forum for learning through the exchange of emergency response techniques and ideas; and promote a spirit of cooperation and friendly competition amongst SES volunteers.

The NDRC has been conducted biennially since its inception in 1988, with each Australian jurisdiction hosting the event on a rotational basis.

Each Australian State and Territory will be represented by the team that won their respective State Disaster Rescue Challenge.

Approximately 80 Tasmanian SES volunteers will be involved in support roles, with support also provided by personnel from our emergency service partner agencies, Tasmania Police, Tasmania Fire Service and Ambulance Tasmania.
